On April 2nd, on the eve of a public holiday, Village Underground Lisboa hosts a very special concert dedicated to the sounds and traditions of West Africa.
Gambian masters Mbye Ebrima and Ansumana Suso take the stage for a unique performance centered around the music of The Gambia — an intense journey into the roots of the Mandinka people, where rhythm, melody, and spirituality come together.
With the hypnotic sound of the kora, the vibrant textures of the balafon, and the pulsating power of traditional percussion, this concert promises to transport the audience to the banks of the River Gambia, celebrating ancestral stories passed down from generation to generation. Deeply connected to the griot tradition, the music is both contemplative and festive — meant to be listened to, felt, and danced to.
