You have certainly already visited the Port Wine Caves in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto’s sister city, where the wine is aged. But what about getting to know it’s production area? 🍷
Let’s go on a trip up the Douro river, where the old rabelo boats embarked on their journey carrying the casks filled with port wine, visiting the oldest demarcated wine region in the world, the Douro Valley.
With inclined terraces to expose the vines to as much sun as possible on the banks of the deep valleys carved by the Douro river and the molding of beautiful landscape into what we will discover along the way, a visit to one of the main Douro and Port wine farms to learn about knowledge passed down between generations to make one of the best and most recognised wines worldwide is something you can’t pass. Of course, a tasting is also mandatory!
